The album achieves something mischievously unguarded: a collection of blissful dance tunes constructed for embrace and abandon. Drake takes a leap further into uncharted realms than any of his peers, offering a refreshing sign of what’s to come.

Honestly, Nevermind is a welcome development in the Drake saga, a left turn off what was starting to seem like an endless stretch of trap-heavy highway. The destination is still sad and self-involved, but at least the scenery is colorful and never boring.

A small marvel of bodily exuberance — appealingly weightless, escapist and zealously free. An album of entrancing club music, it’s a pointed evolution toward a new era for one of music’s most influential stars. It is also a Drake album made up almost wholly of the parts of Drake albums that send hip-hop purists into conniptions.

Honestly, Nevermind isn’t a bad album, but it is disappointing.

Instead of taking a much-needed left turn and cranking it up to 11, he's settled for something safe — something too smooth, too worldly.

It’s as if the goal of Honestly, Nevermind is anonymity—inoffensively, sort of fun music that simmers in the background all summer and beyond.

Drake breaks no new ground here, and retreads the same tales of love and regret so many times that the songs bleed together. If you just want background music for making love, this is your album. If you want to have your imagination captured by fantastic tales or be taken on an emotional roller coaster, don’t bother. There are no highs or lows here. We’re on medium the whole time.

I’ve been waiting a long time for drake to try something new, and I’m very happy with the outcome.

I get what he was trying to do, but my god did he fail. It's okay to try something new, Ye did it with 808s and again with Yeezus, but Drake is no Ye. Drake's strength comes from his easy-to-listen-to rap. It was nothing truly exceptional, but it sold. Drake was never groundbreaking, he didn't have to be. This, however, is not very good. It's generic, trite, and all-around disappointing. Expand

Despite the more interesting, housier beats, this album has some of the blandest, least interesting performances drake has ever put to tape.

Unfortunately, it's not the case here with his 7th studio album, Honestly, Nevermind, a title rightfully chosen.

It's how uninspired and ridiculously blend the record is that makes it especially bad: it's trying to serve Dawn FM but doesn't reach an ounce of its artistry, it sadly ends up serving Donda 2's unfinished and unpolished aftertaste and it's finally caring way less soul and effort than bigger (and better) album-sister, More Life. On his new worst song in his career, "Currents", Drake showcase possibly the most horrible production from any hip-hop/dancehall record in recent years, would even go as far as the entirety of music's history. Is it his famous collaborator Noah "40"'s fault? Maybe... or it's Drake new fall from grace. The rest of the album? Absolutely embarrassing.

    Us to Drake: Honestly, Nevermind!
