The intriguing and unique premise of Live A Live is a genuine hook for players from all walks of life. This game not only has a fantasy story worthy of a SNES era Square game but it also treads an extremely upto date line with it's cool turn based combat and choice/morality systems. Players will be blown away by the content on show in this awesome RPG and it cannot be recommended enough. A great game turned masterpiece with this fantastic remake!

Live A Live is a fascinating JRPG time machine that’s getting its dues at last thanks to a remake that brings out the best in its seven stories, strong combat, and unusual structure.

If you enjoy JRPGs, you owe it to yourself to play Live A Live. Despite being a remake of a decades old game, Live A Live feels fresh and will surprise you with its interesting combat, gorgeous visuals, unique structure, and superlative soundtrack. It is a strong contender for the best JRPG in years.

Live A Live is an outstanding remake of the game originally published in 1994. Its art style, music and sound effect perfectly merge with narratives while maintaining the same combat system and structure of the original version.

A thoroughly enjoyable game. Live A Live is simple and old fashioned in all the right ways, where each little story leaves you wanting more.

Live A Live is a fascinating lost piece of gaming history that offers up an impressively-varied cinematic saga well ahead of its time, although a slide into more traditional JRPG tropes in its third act diminishes some of what makes the game special. Live A Live is an unpredictable journey worth experiencing, but like life itself, it may leave you feeling a bit worn down by the end.

Live A Live takes too long to settle into its RPG groove, making it a missed opportunity on too many fronts.

The game consists of 6 different stories from different time periods. Ranging from the earliest days of man, to the far far future. While you may think that the short story structure wouldn't lead to an interesting narrative, the truth is the writing on the game truly separates it from most other games on the genre. You may not enjoy every section, but I'm sure almost everyone will enjoy at least a few. Expand

This is how I'd wish they remake all the classics. Just feels like you are playing something that was made with love and care.

-Seven Sizzling Short Stories with good themes and variations in gameplay
-A classic SNES Remake done (mostly) right.

    CONS:
-Some changes in the English localisation that feel more like censorship.
-English voice acting is kind of bland.
-Final chapter is somewhat "meh", mostly dealing with final boss and bonus dungeons. Could've used more character interactions and story moments.

    FINAL SCORE:
8/10, Live A Live is a fun, classic JRPG that reminds me positively of Chrono Trigger and the older Final Fantasy games. Although all of the character scenarios play on classic tropes and clichés (Cube's scenario especially will give you strong ALIEN and 2001: A Space Odyssey vibes) it is all done very well and I enjoyed spending time with every protagonist. Which was why I was somewhat disappointed that there weren't really any interactions between them all in the final chapter, though for a SNES game that was originally released in 1994 I suppose that's understandable.

I hope with Live A Live, and Octopath Traveler and Triangle Strategy previously, we get more games in the 2.5 HD style. Whether they're remakes or original.
