    From small things like great sound effects and voice acting, to more fundamental victories like its mix of overworld exploration and solid strategy-style combat sections, there’s a lot to love here.

    Hard West 2 is a tactically challenging work of art with a beautifully depicted environment and unique features that, much like its name, become progressively harder as you advance. Hardcore fans of tactical RPGs will savor what it has in store with its distinct combat system and necessity for well-thought-out strategies. Still, on the other hand, casual players may not be too happy with the level of difficulty as the game punishes aggressive and lackadaisical gameplay.

    Hard West 2 is a solid experience despite some shortcomings and missed opportunities. Ice Code Games crafted a unique and action-packed combat system while retaining much of what makes this type of strategy game so engaging. It may not have the production values or depth of either XCOM or Gears Tactics, but Hard West 2 still manages to be an addicting and satisfactory turn-based strategy experience.

    Although Hard West 2 delivers on some awesome visuals and sound design, its gameplay didn’t hook me and its characters never grew on me. For those looking to scratch the itch of a turn-based tactics game until a wave of games releases in the fall of 2022, then this could be right up your alley.

    Turn based feeling like an action game, that's something new. Train chasing is awesome. You need to forget about XCOM and understand that cowboys survived battles not because enemies had 25% of CtH but they did not have a chance to fire at all :). Dead enemy cannot harm you!… Expand

    This game is fire. Finally some fresh ideas about turn-based battle. Bravado and train heists? Fantastic ideas and implementation.

How can enemy be able to heal to full 18hp every two rounds, while you are capped to 4-6hp ONCE PER FIGHT??? What with the bleeding bomb spam **** How many bandages should I equip to counter that? In case of melee characters without bandages they are stuck for 4 rounds lol. Fix the balance, and it might be really fun to play, but right now it is just pain to go through.… Expand

    Voice acting, music, and settings are not enough if the gameplay is fundamentally broken.
    Even at the lowish price they are selling it (€25 at the moment) this is a hard pass, maybe for €5 when it goes on sale.    … Expand
